The normal procedure for cleaning laminate flooring is to:
- Sweep or vacuum with a non-beater bar vacuum cleaner (use the hard floor attachment)
- Occasionally damp mopping when necessary-- For best results add 1-cup vinegar or 1/2 cup ammonia to one gallon of water, or use laminate cleaner.
- DO NOT USE Scouring powder, steel powder, floor polish, detergent polish, floor wax, soap wax or soap-- residue from these products binds dirt with the surface structure and is extremely difficult to remove
- Remove stains with denatured alcohol or a small amount of acetone on a damp cloth.
- Chewing gum must be allowed to dry thoroughly before scraping it away with a blunt scraper
- Minor marks or indentations can be repaired with laminate finishing putty.
- For major damage replace the entire plank professionally

Cleaning Laminate During Installation
During installation, residues of glue mixed with water can give the floor a blotchy appearance. This removes easily by cleaning off the excess glue with a damp cloth and then buffing dry.
